What’s New in Research

Welcome! The Research section of the ECLKC is designed to make ACF funded Head Start research accessible to the Head Start community. Within this section, you will find Research to Practice Briefs, TipSheets, research reports and other resources that offer important research results. This research section is aimed to help programs become more knowledgeable about Head Start research and to help programs’ work be guided and strengthened through research.

The National Academies focuses on 2 topics: the identification of outcomes associated with early stages of child development, and the quality and purpose of different techniques for developmental assessments.

This section provides brief summaries on research with suggestions for improving practice.

1.1 Early Head Start Research Briefs

The Early Head Start Research and Evaluation Project involved 3,001 children and families in 17 sites selected to reflect the array of all Early Head Start programs.

1.2 Tip Sheets

The Head Start Research to Practice Tip Sheets will make the ACF-funded research findings more accessible and will help programs think about the implication of the research for local practice. The TipSheets are intended to help practitioners become more aware of the ACF-funded research in particular subject areas. The TipSheets are structured to build upon the work that programs are engaged in by providing information on how programs can use the research to enhance their work.Read more »
