The SOLAR Planner

The SOLAR Planner facilitates T/TA plan development. The Planner is a stand-alone application which stores information in a FileMaker Pro database. You do not need to have FileMaker Pro to run the program on your computer, unless you are viewing it with a screen reader. The Planner can help your management team to systematically develop a T/TA plan, as required by the Head Start Act.

Your program’s T/TA provider and federal program specialist can support you throughout the planning process.

The Planner’s step-by-step process enables you to:
1. Use Profiler reports and other program data to identify and prioritize staff development needs
2. Create and record staff development goals and T/TA strategies
3. Generate a T/TA plan and progress reports on activities and outcomes

Before you install the Planner to your computer, you will need to determine an account name and password to open and use the Planner. If you download the Planner before selecting a user account name and password, the Planner will not open and you will be unable to continue.

When prompted, enter the user name and password. There are three types of user accounts for access to the SOLAR Planner:

  • ADMIN (User name=admin; password=solarsystem) allows complete access to the Planner. You can edit and/or delete any filer or record.
  • EDITOR (User name=editor; password=solarwriter) allows you to add and edit all records. It is designed for data entry and should be the account your program uses most often.
  • READER (user name=reader; password=solarviewer) allows you to read and view any record and/or report. It is useful for staff who need to see information, but do not need to add and/or edit records.

Once you have viewed the video, you can download the SOLAR Planner for PC or Macintosh. If you are using a screen reader, select here to install the screen reader version on either a PC or Macintosh.
